Never ever run any advertisement without monitoring the response.
If your Ad doesn’t sell your products on the first round, get rid of it. 99% of advertising agencies, newspaper and radio reps hate the idea of monitoring. They usually recommend that “Repetition is needed to gain success!!”. The reason they would say that is because they are selling advertising space. So, the more advertising space You Buy - the less they need to sell to meet their targets.
If an ad doesn't work the first time, it is unlikely to work the second and so on.
Test your ads on a small-scale first and once you have it working - then stick with it.
Remember, the market place is constantly changing. You may get tired of seeing the same old ads but your new and existing customers will not. If it’s working don’t change it! If your ad sold baby clothes to new mothers this year, it’ll probably work just as well with new mothers next year!
A few things to be aware of when advertising:
- Make sure your potential buyers will see the article
- Put information in your ads - this will invariably outsell basic picture ads
- Don't fall into the big is better trap. It just needs to be big enough for you to get your message across.
- Take out only ONE Ad first to test the response rate. If it doesn't work, change it for another message and re-test.
- Make sure you can track the response and conversion rates
